Big Changes Coming

On November 16th, 2007 Underground Impressions Souterraines (UIS) closed for the season. On May 1st, 2008 we will re-open but with a real difference.

A new name:

IMPRESSIONS

Impressions will be
A space for Art
A space to do Art
A space to show Art
A space to teach and learn Art
A space for artists’ materials

- A new location:
305f Main Street, Shawville – across the parking-lot from the Value Mart
- A “Space for  Art” open year-round
- More Artists’ Studios on site
-My own Underground Impressions Souterraines will be still be on site
-Janis Shock-Pulley, one of the Pontiac’s best watercolourists, will also have a studio  at Impressions
- More Services
-A professionally run gallery exhibiting work by local artists
-Professional picture framing by Janis Shock-Pulley
-Artists’ materials will be available for sale at Impressions
-Space will be available for workshops of all sorts

I apologize for not having sent out a newsletter up to this point. This note is to inform you that I have not forgotten, rather that there have been things happening at the studio that will precipitate some important changes in the months to come.

Last night I participated as a sponsor for the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) and its annual Fall Run dinner in Ottawa.

Both pieces, “Haiku Trout II” and “Brook Trout Dreams III” were sold in the silent auction section of the event.

Just to let you know that the seasonal downgrade is happening early this year. Due to renovations scheduled for the area in which I have the gallery space, that area will be closed as of the 18th of September.

The Studio space for UIS still remains open.

Well the labour Day Weekend is long over. The Shawville Fair was its usual success, but I was away — although the fair is a very busy time for the village 99% of the visitors are interested in the fair and not in what is going on in the village so I took a brief break.

With the beginning of September Fall/Winter Hours are in affect:

Monday - Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. ( I may yet decide to be closed on Tuesday also. We will see)

Well I haven’t added much recently, but I should mention that the exhibition “For the Taking” is now officially over - actually since August 6th, but you may still see work from the show at Underground Impressions Souterraines.(UIS).

Please note, workshops are still available for the summer and fall season. Follow the link above to UIS for more information.

Also note that UIS will be closed for the Labour Day Weekend from August 31 to September 4th.

I have received a number of responses re the new/revised website.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the comments and will work on seeing how to implement them.

I have also received some feedback on the email announcement that went out. It seems that some who received the announcement had trouble accessing the site via the link provided. My apologies on that. When I sent the note to myself I had no trouble and others do not seem to have had trouble either so I don’t know what to do about that.

Anyway it is after 4:00 pm on a Friday, and even tho I will be in the studio tomorrow again, I feel like the weekend wants to start and that it is time to start getting things ready to close down.

It is cooler here in the basement of the studio, but outside it is pretty warm. A 60 min cycle home is going to be work - tho one does create one’s own wind when cycling (without the greenhouse gases from riding in an air-conditioned car!)
